Signs of Diabetes

The Signs of Diabetes are plastered all over the internet and although they are very real, they usually take years to become noticeable, and a few more years before they become a problem.  But once the signs of diabetes reach the problem stage, it is usually too late to reverse this dreaded disease.

What alerted me to the fact that I may have developed type 2 diabetes, was my frequent visits to the loo, tired and itchy eyes, thirsty first thing in the morning, and excessively dry skin.  My skin was already dry from eczema, but it became worse - especially around my face and my feet.  When I paid a visit to my local GP, he sniggered and asked what I thought my symptoms were, yet after a 'fasting' blood test, my blood sugar levels came back at 5.1.

As my research continued, I found that I was going to the loo more often because my kidneys were working overtime, trying to flush all the sugar from my blood.  This action required more water than I was drinking, and so water came from my body, hence the incredible thirst, dry skin and tired, itchy eyes.

I discovered that if I continued eating in this manner, my kidneys would also suffer, my pancreas, liver and heart too.  Blood vessels will become clogged and nerve endings weak - all this because I have too much sugar in my blood.

And there are even more signs of diabetes.  My joints will become inflamed, which as I get older, could lead to arthritis.
